Laparoscopic Removal of Benign Ovarian Cystic Teratoma using Polyethylene Bag

Abstract

|
Laparoscopic removal of benign cystic teratoma can be time-consuming, and adhesions, chronic pelvic pain and infertility may develop after surgery. This study was designed to remove benign cystic teratomas laparoscopically without intraperitoneal
spillage. Thirty-two benign cystic teratomas from twenty-nine women were removed laparoscopically using polyethylene bag. This method permits removal of ovarian lesions with little or no risk of intraperitoneal spillage.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. Age distribution of the patients was 11 to 67(mean 33.1).
2. Para was 0 to 9(mean 1.6), and abortion was 0 to 6(mean 1.4).
3. Among the twenty-nine patients, twenty-six were unilateral, and three(9.6%) were bilateral.
4. Operation time was 25 to 130(mean 63) minutes.
5. Postoperative hospital stay was 2 to 5(mean 2.7) days.
6. Thirty-two benign ovarian cystic teratomas from twenty-nine women were removed laparoscopically using polyethylene bag without intraperitoneal spillage.
